This Easter Sunday I had a different kind of “egg hunt” looking for all the perennials sending up shoots, leaves, and blooms. I also reflect on the possibility of re-listing Stone’s Throw for sale.

Wow, we’re still here! Maybe we’re supposed to stay? We’re not sure on that, but we are exploring an alternate path that could let us stay on as co-stewards of Stone’s Throw.

When you love a place enough to know it’s time to let go… yes, we’ve decided to sell. Anika’s medical challenges have forced the decision. But there’s definitely a lot of “sweet” in this bittersweet moment.

We don’t have harvest weights tallied quite yet, but there is certainly an abundance of food coming in. It’s been a year of relying on more volunteer help and scaling back the number of annual crops planted. And yet, what beautiful and diverse foods are still coming in from our yard-farm each day. Feeling grateful.

After over two years of having my persistent symptoms misunderstood and misdiagnosed, I finally know what’s going on here. And it’s got some serious ramifications for how long I continue doing the work I love…

Winter residencies at the Stone’s Throw Guest Haven near Bozeman, MT are now underway. There are still a few openings for February and March. Come stay in a private queen bedroom suite, explore the region, and learn about permaculture and local food systems at Stone’s Throw Microfarm.

I’ve never needed an off-season quite so badly. Rest is healing and wise. We’ll start a few veggies and begin drafting maps soon. But not right now.

Recovering from losing a dear canine friend, counting my incredible blessings from this year’s harvest.
